Women with Drive Event
On Nov. 9, 2023, Porsche Atlanta Perimeter hosted its annual Women with Drive event, bringing together local, professional and dynamic women for an evening of inspiration and entertainment. The event featured an array of experiences, including shopping from local women-owned retail vendors like Abbey Glass Boutique, Kendra Scott, Evolve Botanica, Woo Cosmetics and Audrey Allman Designs. Guests enjoyed delicious bites by Proof of the Pudding, professional headshots with Jill of Tradez Photography, makeup artistry by Faith Brooks Makeup and an exhilarating driving experience on Porsche simulator machines. The atmosphere was alive with energetic beats curated by DJ Chika Takai, a roaming photo booth by Button It Up and a talented caricature artist.
The evening also presented opportunities for giveaways and a raffle, with items from each retail vendor up for grabs. The highlight of the event was an inspirational message from Jennifer McCollum, CEO of Linkage (a SHRM company) and author of “In Her Own Voice: A Woman’s Rise to CEO.” McCollum, a professional woman, driven by dreams, shared insights on the top hurdles to women’s advancement and actionable strategies to overcome them. Guests were treated to a sneak preview of her book, gaining access to the latest data on women in the workplace and hearing real-life stories from a premier expert on women’s leadership.
McCollum’s inspiring message aimed at helping women leaders be driven by dreams resonated with the predominantly female audience. She spoke about her personal journey, overcoming obstacles and the unique challenges women face on their path to leadership. McCollum stated, “Women are incredible leaders, but women face unique challenges on their path to leadership.” The event highlighted the importance of encouraging and supporting one another to rise above challenges. “We need to help each other become more aware of them, so we can all help each other rise,” said McCollum.
McCollum addressed key hurdles, starting with the inner critic, guiding attendees on silencing self-doubt and taking action. McCollum mentioned, “The inner critic is a little louder for women and the inner critic weaves its way through all the hurdles amplifying them and maybe preventing women from taking action.” She delved into overcoming internal bias, finding clarity in personal goals and the power of saying no to things that don’t align with one’s aspirations. Her message was not only uplifting but also provided actionable insights for women at all stages of their careers.
The Women with Drive event, from start to finish, showcased women’s leadership across fashion, culture and executive roles. Attendees left feeling inspired and motivated to take the next steps in their personal, professional and spiritual journeys, driven by their dreams.
